Place one tab in substrate for every 16 square inch (4"x4") where plants are located. For low tech setups place a new tab once every 2 to 4 months to provide essential nutrients.  For high tech setups with CO2 injection ,place a new tab once a month to provide essential nutrients while maintaining regular water changes.
